The responsible fashion label and regenerative design studio, Raeburn has teamed up with Wildbrain CPLG’s Snoopy and the Peanuts gang to bring the iconic character to an exclusive capsule collection of clothing and accessories.
Launched last month, the line-up features shirts and t-shirts produced using 100% GOTS certified organic cotton alongside a hoody produced using 100% GOTS certified loopback cotton.
All items in the collection feature Snoopy ‘descending to Earth’ carried by Raeburn’s recycled pilot’s parachute, a bold motif that has become representative of the brand’s philosophy towards fashion and design as well as its humble beginnings reusing military materials, including woollen jackets and nylon parachute canopies.
The collection adheres to a core pillar among Raeburn’s approach to fashion – an approach governed by three founding principles: Remade, Reduced, and Recycled.
Paramount to the Raeburn philosophy since 2001 is its approach to remanufacturing and reworking surplus materials, products, and artefacts into new designs. Every ‘Raemade’ piece in Raeburn’s portfolio is therefore a limited edition produced in England.
Designs developed at the Raeburn lab, meanwhile, are all considered for their impact on the environment in order to reduce waste by reworking surplus materials, minimising carbon footprint with local manufacturing, or producing smaller batches. To this end, the Peanuts capsule collection is all produced in Raeburn’s facilities in Portugal, offering a more local approach to manufacturing.
Finally, seeking the most sustainable materials around the globe and working with responsible manufacturing partners is key to the Raeburn brand which states that ‘recycling pre-exiting materials and harnessing green technologies is fundamental to its production process.’
Last April, Raeburn was commissioned to develop a uniform solution for Selfridges’ Reselfridges Retail team as a part of the department store’s own drive to move its products and processes towards the circular economy by 2030.
To produce the collection, the brand opted to utilise existing Raeburn stock, 100% organic cotton overshirts, enhancing them with a lightweight, high tensile nylon ripstop. The latter was taken from deconstructed parachutes.
Commenting on the Raeburn partnership, Christopher Raeburn, the brand’s founder, said: “Selfridges has long been at the forefront of responsible thought-leadership within retail and it’s been wonderful to be a part of the journey with the Reselfridges project. I’m incredibly proud of the uniforms and how we were able to use the best of the Raeburn Lab’s agility to bring the project together in an impactful and meaningful way.”
